P.S. Please don’t say anything that will spoil the book for someone who hasn’t read it. Thanks!

To be honest, my favorite character so far would have to be Prosper English. So sue me. Either that or Alias.
I loved this book! Can't wait for the next one!
My favorite character is definitely Sonja. She's so smart and her character so resilient despite her bodily limitations. She's a truly inspiring character.
If I could have changed anything, I would probably change the situation between Cadel's social worker and...darn, I can't remember his name. The detective guy. It was sweet and all that they wanted to--Oh right. No spoilers. Well, let's just say it wasn't all that believable.
My favorite part was where Cadel was almost tricked into making cinnamon coffee. XD Yum.
Genius Squad is every bit as good as Evil Genius. It's an exciting, fun, edge of your seat page-turner, for sure. Keep up the fantastic writing, Catherine Jinks!
Great book! Can't wait for the next one!
And hey, I would have bought it even if I didn't get it free, so that was a bonus.
My favorite character... that's hard to call.
I'm a Prosper English fan, myself. (In my head he will always be Thaddeus Roth, but technically, it's Prosper.) Cadel is also very cool.
I agree with Mere- that whole thing with the social worker and the detective seemed kind of odd. Really, really, sweet, but kind of odd.
I liked everything where Prosper was involved (he's just that awesome), and I keep rereading the ending because it's very sweet.
Eagerly awaiting the sequel.
i really liked it i preordered this at the library 7 months ago and it great but cadel has become a good guy and i loved seeing him be evil
I got Genius Squad the moment the library had it. I loved Cadel when he was evil, but I can relate to him better. Cadel is my favorite character, and probably will always be, but I love Sonja and Niobe. I could see myself playing Lexi.
I cannot wait until the next book book comes out! I truely hope the next one is not the last.
I love that Cadel is being the good guy this time around. But my favorite character is Saul because he's always looking out for Cadel and gets him out of some tough situations that Cadel couldn't manage by himself. The book was pretty good, but not as good as the last one. The ending came out of nowhere...
Hi,
My favorite character by far is Cadel, and like most people I liked Cadel when he was evil, he was just more interesting that way and in my opinion, that was what made Evil Genius such a fantastic read.
I bought Genius Squad a couple of weeks ago, the first day it came out, and didnt sleep until i had read the whole book. To be quite honest, i did not find Genius Squad as captivating a read as Evil Genius, rather than further"exploring the fine line between Good and Evil" I thought it dwelled too far into the world of computer systems and hacking, this made most of the book quite boring.
But it must be said that Catherine Jinks works her magic towards the end of the book where finally Prosper English comes into the picture and restores that magic atmosphere of Evil Genius.
The new Characters, with the exception of Saul Greenarius are quite poorly developed and slip from the reader's mind without leaving any sort of an impact, to be quite frank the likes of Fiona Currey i think Jinks has created her for the sole purpose of giving Saul and Cadel a reason, no, an excuse to live together in the next book, Genius wars.
Overall, if the reader does not compare this book to its predecessor, you could say it was a time killer, but hardly in the same league as Evil Genius. Lets hope Jinks gives something better in Genius Wars.
Just finished- and loved the book. Cadel was very realistic. Personally, I found the thing with Saul and the social worker rather predictable. It was about the only thing I suspected would happen that did, though, so it's not a black mark against you.
The books had a very similar flavor and style, which I enjoyed a LOT. The different territories they explored were great. Where the first explored an outcast as he grew up and decided what he wanted- for HIM- this one was more about trying to stay true to who he wanted to be, not who others wanted him to be. Also, where the first more dealt with systems, this one dealt more with hiding (you know what I mean).
I have to say, of all the characters my favorite this time round was Hamish. He was such a guy! He acts so DIFFERENT- and if those were his parents at the end, I understand him completely. Realistic character, all his quirks, greatly developed. I hope I see more of him in the next book.
Keep up the great work!
I absolutely loved the book. I really liked Evil Genius, but I liked the sequel even better. I found it easier to relate to, and personally, I like the new Cadel better than the old. He was very fascinating when he was evil, but he's even more lovable now, and he's become my favorite character.
In fact, the characters are my favorite part of the book. They all seem genuine to me, and I think it's so neat how they often don't end up being what they were expected to be. I absolutely love the new character of Saul, and Prosper is just as interesting as ever, more so even.
The end of the book didn't seem unrealistic to me. I thought it was really sweet.
Genius Squad had my interest the whole way through, and it was a great way to spend my Saturday. It was well worth the $17, as I had expected it would be, and I'm eagerly awaiting The Genius Wars. This is coming from a teenage girl who has a hard time finding good teen books these days. Thanks so much for writing this amazing story, Catherine Jinks! :)
I just finished the book right now at 1 in the morning and just couldn't stop. It was basically watching a horror movie. I think that this book (genius squad) was better than Evil Genius!!! My favorite charcter wasCadel and just great to see him make up these tricks and plans (the burnt pop tarts, Water Boiler and toster) It was a Terrific Book and Hope the NEXT BOOK IS EVEN BETTER
i didnt like that the fact that cadel was a good guy in this book. he was a more sophisticated character in the book evil genius with the trouble he caused( i wont try any of the things he did... ok maybe i will ..or have already). i did like evil genius more because of of his evilness, the encrypted code were more difficult to crack, and again the evilness... i really liked that characteristic cadel contained.
the book was amazing, as was evil genius, but cadel as a bad guy is far more interesting and fun to follow, but as the story is i know that the story can'y really be twisted to that view, but at least make him get some revenge on some people... please?
anyways amazing book, saw it at the library (they had just got it in and hadn't even put it in the system yet when i noticed it, i had read evil genius the previous year and LOVED it, and was extatic when i found out it was the sequal)
so i said i needed to borrow it out, so i picked it up later that day, and i finished it last week.
(the librarian got a bit angry when she found out i had read that first instead of the other ones i had out already cause one was an inter-library loan lol)
it is an AMAZING BOOK, one of the best series ive ever read, must read.
the next title sounds promising, please follow through Catherine
i really enjoyed this one.
i wish they would be less computer hacking lingo, and stuff like that, it makes the book boring in some parts. Cadel is definetly my favorite character. i love how in this book, he has this inner battle with what he feels is right.and how he sometimes reverts back to his Axis days. u know??
Am totally excited for the next one!!!
I think my favorite character is probably cadel. The way he has grown and is developing a sense of right and wrong is fighting his bad upbringing at every moment is quite entertaining cause your not sure what he'll do all the time.
Its hard to find good books and as a person in their 20's I think these books are ace. I thoroughly enjoyed them and look forward to the next.
i loved this book, though not as much as evil genius. I was just waiting the whole time for Prosper to show up, i LOVE him(though i was a little dissapointed to see how much of an ass he was with Sonja.)I agree with Le Tango Grande isee him a Thaddeus still.I also love Cadel, hes so cute. Cant wait to read the next onw.:)
I absolutely loved this book!
> < Just my opinion, but just maybe half a notch lower than Evil Genius, but still absolutely amazing!
My favourite characters would definitely be Cadel, Prosper, and Vadi, in that order.
I didn't really agree with the whole Saul and Fiona thing, but that's totally fine...
I love it when Cadel comes up with these elaborate plans to blow something up... XD
I like how Cadel turned out (not that I didn't love him when he had no conscience).
And I'm almost afraid of how Prosper's going to react in the next book to the.. eh... news of the... uh... whole... .... Yeah. I'm horrible at describing scenes without spoiling...
I can't wait to see what happens next :) when's the next book coming out? XD
My favorite character is prosper. he's not just really evil, he's smart too. it's refreshing to see a villan come back and outsmart the hero of book. ^_^
this book was interesting because of all the new characters, but it still retained that action-packed quality that evil genius had. there was never a moment where i was all "yawn, yeah...i'll just set this down and come back later when i feel like it"
it was good. caught me off gaurd a time or two, and that's definitely an admirable trait in a story.
After reading the first book of this series i was super excited for the next one, and once i finally got i screamed i was so excited. Genius Squad definitely didn't have any disappointments.
I like many people only read books if they are not in the library, but this one I HAD TO BUY!!
Oh, and my favorite character is definitly Cadel.
I AM SOOOO EXCITED FOR THE NEXT ONE!
PS: i cried at the end I was so happy for him.
I stumbled upon this book when I was browsing about in Barnes and Noble for a good book. I came up to this one, and looked at the classes on the back of the cover, how they were crossed out and left with sinister, more twisted classes and was immediatly attracted.
The first book was amazing, the second, Unbeleivbly good, and I cannot -wait- for the third book. I was a little dissapointed when I asked them for a release date and didn't get one, but I'll be patient.
My Favorite character, by -far-, is Cadel. Just the fact that he went from a thriving criminal to coming to be a good semeritan is quite a story. I'm looking foward to more and I hope it's as good as the first 2.
I have read both books from the Evil Genius series, and I must admit that I am a quite a fan of both. However, I was slightly disappointed in the second book because the ending was not quite as exciting as the first.
The first book left me wanting more and I was ridiculously happy to find that Genius Squad was on the shelf. Now that I am finished with it though, my enthusiasm is slightly dulled. Perhaps ending on a more pivotal moment would have really added some extra "umph."
Just like I have no favorite colors, I have no favorite character. I enjoy Cadel and his thought process and everything, but I have a strong appreciation for the "villains" like Prosper English and Alias because they keep the story going.
Overall, this was an excellent sequel and I would recommend it to anyone. Hope everyone else enjoyed it.
WOW.
I have to say, I am pleased with myself for ever even picking up Evil Genius. I was deterred from it, and kinda slow, being what, twelve?
I read it this summer, after two years of it collecting dust; I loved the book, and I read it in about a week ( record time for me, considering I took 5 months to read the fifth harry potter book )
I recently finished Genius Squad, and I was entralled, and sad that I'd finished the book, so fast this time.
I finished it last night. And guess what I've spent doing most of today? I finished Evil Genius again, and I'm speeding through Genius Squad once more, as when I read it first, it was late, and I was being slow.
My favorite characters? I loved the detective, Cadel, Prosper English. My favorite two of those three most definitely Prosper English and Cadel; the dectective was far too dense at times, and he needed to be harder and firmer, in my opinions. More stern, though with that same evident love for Cadel still safely bottled up inside of him.
I was disappointed a bit by the ending of the book - I was happy for Cadel, but, because of the ending of Genius Squad, I feel that there are too few loose strings that can ensure that they'll be another book following Genius Wars.
I'll treasure the 'Genius Books' as I fondly refer to them as, due to my constant comfort I now find in them. I can read them over and over again, feeling the same suspense as I did when I first read the books. Cadel's thought process is so full, so rounded. All of his thoughts are fully understood - the childish thoughts that Cadel has seems to surprise me again and again. He was so creatively made. Yeah, I admit, he's one of those troubled kids in books who whine and say 'buttt I justttt wanna beee nooorrrrmmmaaaaal!' He even said so at some point in the first book, I believe. In all those books with the troubled kids who dispaired about being normal, I just laughed at them. I knew that if they became normal, they'd never fully enjoy themselves. Ha ha. But Cadel? He is a different matter. Who can resist his baby blues and kiddish face? I feel bad for Cadel. xD Yes. I feel bad for a fictional character. Weird. I think that he deserves a normal life - he does - but it is something I can never see him having.
I'm attached to the fictional character, oddly enough. It has never happened before - I don't read too frequently. But, I find that Cadel and I think very much alike. xD No, I'm not saying I'm a computer hacking, strategenic genius. No, no. I am a deep person . . . . and I think about many things. I worry constantly about unlikely things, hell, I worried so much when my father didn't pick up the phone after his vacation that I actually cried.
After reading this, you may say ' damn, you're a creep. ' Yeeeeeppp. If you think that, it is true. I am 100% weird, and I am anticipating the next book in the 'Genius series'.
If I sounded very rambly and distracted, you're right! My thought process was rather choppy, here, I must say. xD I just wanted to put some of my many thoughts about the Genius series down, as I grow impatient for the next book.
I'm worried, though. The time period in which Mrs. Catherine Jinks( I believe it is a Mrs) was busy writing Genius Squad was three years! How'd I figure that out? xD The inside cover. I examined when the first book was released to Australia and found that it was released in 2005. I couldn't believe it, actually. I was disappointed. Genius Squad was released in 2008, both here in America and in Australia. I'm hoping that Genius Wars will come out before I turn 16, though I can understand if it takes three years, like its predecessors. I mean, it must take long to write the books. They are four hundred pages of MASTERFUL writing.
. . . . xD Yeah, I really hope Mrs. Jinks finishes the book before I die of anticipation.
o.o
I loved it! I liked it better then Evil Genius, acually. I also liked the way you brought Gazo back. Gazo has it rough. It's not his fault he's like an out of control luck. I get the impression that not a ton of good stuff happened to him before the the series, and even in the first book he had a hard time. But things are getting better for him! Yay! I know he is a pretty minor character, so perhaps it's odd that I relate to him this much. Put more stuff about him in the third book! At least update on how his life is going.
My favorite character in all honesty would really have to be Prosper English, though I still think of him as Thaddeus. I actually didn't read the first book. I listened to the audio book. I must say I enjoyed the audio book a lot more than I would have if I read the book, mostly because it gave it so much more characterization. I fell in love with the characters immediately. What I love so much about this series isn't just that it's so ingeniously interesting, the characters are very well-developed.
This isn't quite as true in the second book, but I have high hopes for the third book. I especially want to learn more about Alias's past along with Prosper's
It was a great book, but i really missed his evil nature... it brought the whole book to life... MORE HACKER LINGO!!! I cant wait for Genius Wars.
My sister brought evil genius home to read one day after school, so i did. it took her a week and a half - she didnt really get "into" it. me, on the otherhand, had finished it twise by the next morning. ABSOLUTELY AmAZING!
then, walking through my local bookstore one day, i saw genius wars. i think i screamed - people were looking at me weirdly and people wouldnt stand next to me at the checkout.
THEN i got my friends into it. they absolutely LOVE it. its quite funny, our school library is sadly lacking in ... well, this series, so i have to loan my books to them. we take turns reading it :) my last friend is just finishing genius squad now. sometimes we'll read over interval, and suddenly the one reading genius squad will quote from it and we'll all burst out laughing. its cool :)
okay, no offence to prosper-lovers, but i really dont like him. he ... well, he creeps me out. i mean, its great that jinks can actually create a character that the mere sound of his name will make me shiver, but still. as i said. *creepy*.
i think the relationship between cadel and sonja is really sweet. just like the relationship between saul and .... damn whatshername. social worker .... uhm ..... yea, anyway, her. okay, so it WAS predictable, smothered in cheese and so on, but it was nice. a happy ending.
CNAT WAIT FOR GENIUS WARS!!
I say that Prosper English is the most interesting character. That's because he still has eluded capture.
By the way, is it me, or has Cadel seem more relax and nicer in the second book?
Hyaah, Anonymous!
I truly loved this book. After I read Evil Genius in the library, it practically haunted me. Now that I've finished reading this book today, I feel exactly how I felt before. But now I have to wait longer!!!
I'm a total Prosper English fan. He's just the kind of guy that runs chills down my spine, you know? I especially liked when [CENSORED!!!].
If this series were made into movies, I'd be one of those crazy fans sitting outside the movie theater waiting for it to come out. And if it WAS made into a movie.. I'll go see it like.. now. XD
Ayoo!
I am dying to read Genius Wars!!!!!!!! Genius Squad was so good and I cant keep it off my mind even tough I read it like 2 months ago!!!!!!! I really liked how Cadel wasn't the bad guy. Also, I liked the Gazo came back. Last but not least, I really liked how it was so suspenseful. The more suspenseful the better. Please come out with Genius Wars soon!!!!!! Thanks for writing this series I have loved it!!!!!!
Hm...
I honestly have to say I was slightly disapointed. Thaddeus (and I will not call him Prosper) was way more interesting then... ugh... Saul...
I wouldn't be bothered by Cadel's newfound goodness, but Prosper was right, he does seem dumber. I hope he keeps on struggling a bit with his morality in the next book, it really makes him more interesting. (I thought he was great in Evil Genius!)
I loved the hacking references, they weren't too technical so I got what was going on, and it was interesting.
Prosper is still awesome.
yo, i just read the first book. I LOVED IT AND CANT WAIT TO READ THE SECOND ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im wondering if candel get one of the twins though.....
I am honestly not a Prosper fan. My favorite characters would have to be Sonja, Saul, Cadel, and my personal favorite (please don't be angry with me) Alias. I really, really wish he hadn't been evil. I liked him in the first book, and like him now. Oh well. I'm happy that Gazo came back, and the end of the book. . . wow. That's all I can say is wow. From the moment Cadel wakes up with English standing over him, I barely breathed. I stayed up waayyyyy too late reading that book. The ending was predictable, but I was happy that it ended that way.
I loved Genius Squad! It was even better Evil Genius. I actually liked that Cadel became a good guy. (I did sort of miss Axis Institute, though. That was interesting.)Anyhoo, my favorite part was when...erm...I can't use spoilers, can I? Never mind. I'll just say it involved Prosper English. And a toaster. That was COOL.
Hm. For some reason I think I liked the first better, but it was still a great book. I think I like Cadel better when he was evil, to be honest. My favorite character is Prosper English, hands down. Probably because he's evil, and a psychopath. I hope the third book is more similar to the first book. But I did love both of them! The best parts of the book are when Cadel sets up elaborate plans to get back at people or escape (the beginning with Mace, the end with Prosper (and the toaster)etc).
Love both books to death and can't wait for the next one!
To be absolutely honest, my favorite character is Gazo. The genius books are great, but each little tidbit with him makes them that muchly more greatererer. I dunno, man, I just always wind up loving the freaky-yet-endearing side characters. (This inevitably leads to disappointment though, because my favorites' roles don't ever get any bigger; it's a sad life. When, oh, when will I learn!)
I would very much like to see more of him in the next installment!
My favorite character is defiantly a tie between Lexi and Devon. Loved the book, can't wait for Genius Wars
This is not exactly about my favorite character but the conversation seems to roam. I would just like to tell everyone out there that on Catherine Jink's official site she said that she was hoping Genius Wars would come out in the U.S. sometime in 2010. if you don't believe me go check it out your self.
I really liked the evil genius books, my favorite character is Sonja. I like Mrs. Jinks other books too, The Pagan books and Babylonne. Babylonne was the BEST!!!!! I think those books had better characters.
I devoured Genius Squad this weekend right after reading Evil Genius, and I was a bit disappointed. I spent the whole time for Prosper to appear. (Although Thaddeus is, yes, a muuuch better name...)
It wasn't as good without Axis Institute. Cadel didn't seem as interesting as he was in the first book.
It did pay off by the time I got to Part 4. Prosper left me seriously freaked out. (I tend to get too into books. Especially when I start shaking and hyperventillating by the end.)
I was half hoping that there would be some epic battle between Saul and Prosper (my two favorite characters) but alas...
And Genius Wars comes out next year?! Yeeeees. (Thanks, Anna.XD)
I've read the 2nd book, and loved every minute of it. Definitely a page turner! Anyone would have fun sharing this adventure with Cadel. A high tech thriller that keeps you on your seat.
Not spoiling? That's going to be hard.
Cadel is my favorite character (it's hard to not like him, it really is) and the introspection and inner struggle with the way he was brought up and the person he wants to be certainly makes for good reading. My favorite scenes, though, involve Prosper English. He brings out the worst in Cadel... which quite frankly, I like. He makes Cadel THINK about who he is and who he wants to be, and he won't let him fall into a sedentary lifestyle of, well, not thinking.
No spoilers, but toward the end, the scene in the plane... pure awesomeness. That's the kind of thing I love to see in a book. It was done just right and tied me emotionally to Cadel's predicament in a powerful way, more surely than the rest of the novel. The last bit (about the paternity...) seemed slightly predictable to me, but overall I immensely enjoyed the ride and am anxious to read the next book.
So far, my favorite characters are Alias, Dot, Gazo, and Sonja.
The book was great. I seriously can't say whether I liked Evil Genius or Genius Squad better, they were both extremely good. Can't wait for The Genius Wars to come out!
well, when i read Genius Squad i was definitely on the edge of my seat waiting for more... when i read the back cover and discovered that genius squad was really the second book in the series. then i started to read Evil Genius, which to me didnt seem as good mainly because i had a basic knowledge of what happens already. but thats really my fault, and both books were wonderful. i have to say that one of my favorite characters was Alias because he doesnt seem all that bad, and what he does is just so cool! my favorite part of genius squad was probably (i dont know if this is a spoiler or not, so bear with me) when they are in the car and Sonja is crying and prosper says "for chris'sake, im in this car, you fools." because that made me jump as i read it. wonderful writing, keep up the good work.
Genius Squad is just as great as it's prequal and I love the review that The Age made about Evil Genius
"Highly Original...imagine Harry Potter brought up by Lord Voldemort, and you have some idea"
My Favourite characters would have to be Alias, difaintly Alias. He's just so cheerful in the books and funny so if anyone who hasn't read Genius Squad should right now!
And the ones which had, well they know what's coming in the books but it's a brilliant twist which makes you go around in circles until the end hits you square in the face like as if you ran into a wall.
I really, really, really, hate the character of Sonja. It seems so limiting to the potential of how great the story could be. I do like, however, in that part, where they're looking for you know who, and Sonja tries to tell Cadel, you know what, and then you know who shows up you know where. Saul was my favorite character, and I think Sonja comes into the story too much. I think it would be better if Prosper/Thaddeus was a little more physical, because it would make him more of a threat, and the story more suspenseful, and a little more realistic, evil-wise. On another note, I agree with Kristen. It's hard to find good teen books now, although this is one of the best series i've read. I am reluctant to start the books, after each new one comes out, and it surprises me EVERY SINGLE DARN TIME. And I love it.
Hi. I loved the book (very surprised by the last thing Prosper said/did to Cadel) The bits of profanity were deterring, though. Mild obscenity, that sort of thing. Overall a very intriguing book. I think Sonja was very well done, and I loved that periodic table bit in the emails. Great book, and I hope the next one (genius wars) will be a little cleaner.
I FREAKING LOVED THAT BOOK.
I think it was even better than Evil Genius! And for a sequel to be better than the first one is tough. The ending is SO CUTE and slightly predictable, but I would've cried if it ended any other way.
In a word, this book was *perfect*. One of the best books EVER!
My favorite character is probably Saul, because he's just that cool. Yep. And the toaster incident was awesome.
The book was obviously good enough to warrant an expression on the interwebs. (:
My only itch with the duo is that, aside from Sonja, not a single young female is depicted in a particularly decent light by Cadel. Maybe in Genuis Wars the hormones will kick in...
I loved both books. Evil Genius was my intro to C.J. and I loved them. Cadel and his girl still are and probably will always be my favorites; with Prosper as a close second, of course. I also think Saul was an interesting character and i sort of liked him. He was pretty smart for a "normal" person.
I do hope we'll be seeing more of Saul/Fiona in the next book. All of my friends agreed that that was really cute. :)
the whole book i was fearing the return of phineas.I'd have to say my favorite characters are definately alias and Thaddeus (Prosper). "Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear" is true for these books. and i sense that phinneas isn't really gone he's likely in a computer
im in the middle of reading it. so far its awesome!!!
PS who's 'WE'???
I loved that book! In this series, you can't trust anyone and there's a lot of action. That's the way I like it.
i read this first by acident. i still thought it was really good. it might have given the ending of evil genius awy but im only on page 163 of evil genius. i didnt have a favorite carecter really.
I CANT WAIT FOR GENIUS WARS!!!!~!!
I like the book and the new characters and all the relationships between them, but in Evil Genius you had some different characters...I don't know. There is something a missing in it. A story is much more exciting when you identify the people in charge of each group. You do that perfectly with Prosper English, but you don't do it with the good guys.
I've gotta say, I love this series so far.
My favorite characters would have to be Cadel, Prosper, and Alias. My only comlaint is that Cadel seems very helpless, it kinda fell away from the fact that he is a genius.
Other than that though, I have no complaints and can't wait for the next one.
Prosper English all the way. Actually, me and my friends are dressing up as the characters soon, and i'm lucky enough to be Prosper :D
Anyways, i loved this book, i CAN'T WAIT for the next one.
I love the scenes between Prosper and Cadel. Posper is evil but yet he still cares for his son in an odd, twisted way.
Congratulations C.J. on the terrific book. Absoloutely loved it!
I have to say, I much preferred Cadel and Prosper over everyone else.
Though I agree that Sonja annoys me at times. I chuckled at the remark Prosper made to her. I feel like I'm growing up with Cadel because I always seem to be around the same age when I'm reading it. Well, the majority of the book at least.
I was sad to see that my local book website called it a "Trilogy" does this mean there's going to not be a 4th?
However, along with the remark about Sonja I agree with Prosper that Cadel is also somewhat becoming.. dulled in the intellect department. As if leading a semi-normal life chipped away at his genius.
The best series I have ever read.
Prosper English is my favorite character. He is clever, evil, and dangerous. I'm disappointed that I finished both books so quickly. I wish they would never end. Please continue making these brilliant series.

Loved the book, not as good as Evil Genius, but still excellent. I am a loyal and long time Harry Potter fan, but must say, this book series is maybe even better. I didn't like the new characters as much as the old ones; Prosper, Alias, Cadel and Vadi wil always be my faourites. Alias gets first place in my book. I did enjoy Hamish's antics quite a bit, though.
I will definately say that Cadel is my favorite, followed closely behind by Prosper English/Thaddeus Roth. I love the way he's so pollished for a "bad guy", and how, even is an albeit twisted way, he does care for Cadel.
Is the care out of his own selfish emotions? Or does he really feel something for Cadel?
Catherine Jinks, I beg you to write more!
Also, my favorite part was after the MAJOR FIASCO in the first third of the book, and Cadel goes to bed and is woken up by someone we all know and love.
I was reading the comments just now and saw this: "I dunno, man, I just always wind up loving the freaky-yet-endearing side characters. (This inevitably leads to disappointment though, because my favorites' roles don't ever get any bigger; it's a sad life." and all i can say is, my favourite characters always kill each other. e.g. L + Rem, Maul + Qui Gon Jin, etc. I was lucky this time.
Anyway, I loved both these books to death. I do like Prosper, he is consistantly interesting. I too like Gazo and I'm sure he'll play a bigger role in the third book, even if it's only a little bigger. Alias is awesome :D
As for that predictable relationship everyon's talking about, I know that a and b would take in c from the start, it was not a surprise unlike many aspects of the book but I really don't mind. If you can't rely on something you'll end up paranoid during the read. These books were exceedingly interesting as they are. I was desperately trying to find if there's a third book about 20 minutes ago when I finished Genius squad and I almost gave up. Finding out about Genius Wars made me happy (^-^)
I love this book. Cadel is my favorite character.
When I finished reading the first and second book, I missed reading it. And I do now, too. I can't wait for the third!

I absolutely loved Evil Genius, and I thought that Genius Squad wasn't as good, but still amazing. I can't wait til the next book comes out.
A long time ago, I was looking up Pat Benatar songs, and saw one called Evil Genius, so I bought it, and loooooooved it. Ever since then I've been obsessed with anything called Evil Genius. So when I saw Evil Genius at the library, I freaked ouuuuut. I loved it so much. :D Thank you Catherine Jinks!!!
Loved the story, very much a worthy sequel to the first. I'm glad he's got Saul and Fiona, as Prosper moves into a more villainous role. I could predict their storyline a mile away but that's a good thing, books like this have to have some grounding somewhere. I'm kind of concerned about his mother, though, she gets a bit too much of the blame here. Makes me wonder if she's even really dead.
Well she has to be dead... right?
I just got done re-reading your book. This is a very rare occurance for me, so I'd like to give Catherine kudo's for that. It's my favourite book that I would consider a kids read (you know, for teens). I've re-read it a few times, actually.
I absolutely love how 3-D the characters are. Catherine made sure to make a point that her characters were more then just stick figures that act as you'd expect them to- if that even makes sense.
Especially Prosper. I'm giddy with excitement at the very thought of reading the next book and seeing how he reacts to the fact he isn't really the father.
I keep trying to predict things, as I am usually good at that. For some reason I figure Prosper would already know, and accept him anyway, though that is probably just me trying to be witty. That and my idea of how his mother might actually be alive. Who knows. Anything could happen at this point.
Catherine, if you are reading this, you are an inspiration. I am just now starting to research on you and your books so I have no idea how you work, but if I find out that there is a way to meet you at some book club thing or whatever I'm sure I'll figure it out. You are the only author that I have found myself counting down the months when waiting for the next book. Thank you.
One last thing. I think everyone's over-reacting a bit about the whole hook up between you know who and the other one. If my prediction is correct, I believe Catherine WANTED it to be obvious. I think she was trying to make it a point that they liked each other. Of course you'd come to the conclusion that they would end up together if she did that.
Had a very, very exciting turn at the end.
Overall, I really liked Genius Squad. By the time I reached part four, the book grabbed me by the sleeve, tied me to the chair, and wouldn't release me until I finished.
Catherine Jinks is really good at creating suspense, and literary tension. I know some people think that until Prosper showed up, it was boring, but frankly that's one of the reasons I liked the book. How it kept me happily entertained by a world of technology that made me feel like the genius until the point in the book where the plot really escalated.
The one downside is, that I hated practically every character on Genius Squad. I didn't think any of them (with the exception of Cadel and Sonja) were believable. Lexi, Devin, and Hamish particularly got on my nerves because they were too flat, too uninteresting, too over-the-top. ON THE OTHER HAND there were some fantastic new and returning characters, too. I loved Saul. But I have to say Cadel is my favorite, along with Prosper English.
In all, Genius Squad was a great sequel and I'm excited to read the next one!
I'd have to say that Prosper English is my favorite character ( fangirl squeals), well along with Alias. :D
Genius Squad was a really good read in my overall opinion. Just as good as its predecessor, Evil Genius. The only thing I don't like about it is Cadel giving up the evil! D:
Anyways, can't wait to read Genius Wars!( dances )
I bought "genius squad" yesterday after waiting on the edge of my seat for my dad to take me to the bookstore after i ahd already finished evil genius, which i bought on a whim. (and ended up thanking fate that i did.) I spent half the night up reading it under my bed, finishing it just this morning, and patiently waiting through three parts for the fourth part and prosper(liked it better when he was called Thaddeus) to appear and take things in hand, because let me tell you, it all gets so much better when he's around. I have a personal pet theory, see, that prosper isnt really that evil because he has one redeeming feature: he really cares about Cadel. illustrated in a few choice paragraphs i read in the fourth part- but no spoilers. I am convinced cadel feels the same way. I am waiting with barely contained anxiety for genius wars to come out in the U.S. so i can see this theory prooved once and for all. Please, dont let me be disappointed! this series is one of my new favorites, i cant stop thinking about it!
Ironically, I bought the second book first, and then read the first book.
So far I believe this series is awesome. I personally enjoyed it. It was written for higher level reading skills, but wasn't too advanced where the reader would get lost.
This book is great for anyone trying to expand their vocabulary skills, increase their reading levels, or just for entertainment.
Hey ,
I'm Emily
and I enjoyed both books and I can't wait for the next one.
I read them in German, and even though it's translated from English to German I enjoyed reading it. I have most definitely never read such a great translated book yet. I'm saving up all my birthday wishes just to get this one book and maybe a genius tote bag. This book was worth buying and I recommend it to anyone who loves reading, you just can't seem to lay it down.
I love the books, my favourite characters would definitely have to be Sonja and Hamish.
I can really relate to Sonja about having cerebral palsy although mine is definitely not as serious as hers and able to speak.
hamish because he is so like my stepbrother in attitude.
I would love it if there were movies made on the books.

i just read Genius Squad book for school and got hooked instantly. I wish i would have known there was on before it. i think the series should be made into a movie
after posting last i watched the book trailer for fun. if it does become a movie which it should. i would suggest diff actors thats not how i pictured it exept Sonja and Trader, Saul should be Micheal Clark Duncan, definatly!
Thaddeus all the way...i personally hate that cadel gave up his evil side, i personally love his personality more....i also thought that in Atemis Fowl that artemis should have stayed evil but that is just my perrogative.Rhis is the most inticing book i have read and if anyone has ever read a book like this one please tell me...by the way i have already read the H.I.V.E. series...but i loved the 3rd book but I WANT A 4TH...

I am Devin's biggest fan! I love love love the book!
The trailer is so stupid, i did not at all think that cadel was a boy with long black hair and no glasses very bad trailer, book is good overall but Dr. Roth has to be my favorite cause hes smart and evil in a good way. I did not at all imagine his name being pronounced the way it is, but the boy in the trailer is hot
This is a horrible book nuff said. Don't buy it borrow it from the library it's not worth the money.
My reason: First of all the book lacks the feel of it's predecessor mainly due to the fact that now it turns in to a typical superhero book it's the good guys verses the bad guys and the good guys are going to win. As in the first book it gives the perspective of the bad guys.
Like most books the first is always better then the second and so forth.
I loved this book. My favorite character is definitely Prosper English. I loved the whole thing. But, I did think that the end was not what I expected. I loved Saul also but I felt that Fiona should really just take a hike. I hated how she treated Cadel. He's not a little kid. He has already showed everyone he can take care of himself. The book was good but I feel that without Fiona, it would be a bit better. Having said that though, I did like Fiona in the third book. She treated Cadel fairly and like his age. Cadel is such a genius, it kills me. The worst part of the whole book was probably the beginning because it was a bit tedious. I feel that I could write a 5 thousand word essay on this book, no, let me take that back. I could write a 10,000 word essay on the whole series. I constantly am thinking about Cadel and really the whole series. I am often found sitting in my room, staring at the wall. I am mentally reviewing every single part of the Evil Genius series. I wish there were more in the series. But I think that the first book is still my favorite. Well that's just my opinion, and everyone's got one.

Im only 11 and I love both of the books. My favorite characters would probably be the twins in the second book. They are so funny and remind me of my brother and I!
my fav character is probably the twins! I like them because their funny. otherwise prosper is my second favorite character! Keep writing amazing book!
I just loved this book...Absolutely amazing! My favorite character is Prosper, although I love Cadel too. Hamish was well developed also. Although I like it when Cadel has a conscience, it's fun to watch him make elaborate plans and play tricks; I hope to see more of that! The only thing I would change would be the ending. I liked it when Prosper was Cadel's father, not Chester (I hope I got that name right), who Cadel himself described as a wimp. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next book!
I loved the book!!! actually, i loved the whole trilogy!!! it reached my top 5 favorite book series's!!! the place for my favorite character in the second book is a three way tie between Cadel *swoon*
Sonja, and Lexi :3
